Cherokee County Roof Replacement After Storm or Hail Damage
Our office sits inside Cherokee County, on Heritage Walk in Woodstock, and we have completed 666 roofs across the county's towns. 594 of those, 89 percent, went through an insurance claim rather than being paid for out of pocket. This page covers the county as a whole. If your house is in Woodstock or Canton, each of those has its own page and both go deeper than this one.
Do you cover all of Cherokee County?
Yes. Woodstock, Canton, Holly Springs, Ball Ground, Waleska and Free Home, plus every unincorporated address in between. A lot of the county carries a Canton or Woodstock mailing address while sitting well outside either city limit, and that makes no difference to us. We are based in the county, not driving into it.
Where the completed work actually sits is a different question, and it follows the housing. Canton and Woodstock carry most of it, with Ball Ground, Waleska and Holly Springs behind them. The split is in the table below.
Should I be on this page, or the Woodstock or Canton one?
If your address is in Woodstock or Canton, go to that town's page instead. This one sits above both of them and answers the county-wide questions. The two town pages carry the local detail: named neighbourhoods, the storm history specific to that side of the county, and which office the permit goes through.
Woodstock roof replacement | Canton roof replacement
For Holly Springs, Ball Ground, Waleska, Free Home and the unincorporated parts of the county, this is the right page. The work and the process are identical; those towns simply do not have enough separate detail to justify a page each.
How many Cherokee County roofs have you actually done?
666 completed, split across the county like this:
| Town | Completed | With a claim |
|---|---|---|
| Canton | 406 | 368 |
| Woodstock | 209 | 183 |
| Ball Ground | 30 | 27 |
| Waleska | 20 | 16 |
| Holly Springs | 1 | 0 |
| Cherokee County | 666 | 594 |
Those are finished jobs in our own records, not leads, not estimates and not quotes that went nowhere. Counted 6 October 2026. Holly Springs reads low because most of the houses posted as Holly Springs land in our records under a Canton or Woodstock address.
What does storm damage look like on a Cherokee County roof?
From your driveway, like nothing at all, which is the whole problem. Hail bruising sits flat on the shingle surface and is close to invisible at an angle. Wind damage shows up as creased shingles along ridges and rake edges, tabs that lifted and set back down without resealing, and seams that have started to open. None of it reads as damage from ground level, and plenty of it is on the slopes you cannot see from the road.
The one thing you can check yourself is soft metal. Hail large enough to hurt asphalt dents aluminium first, so look at gutter aprons, vent hoods, the cap on a turbine and any flashing you can reach. Dimples in those, or a build-up of granules where the downspout empties, mean it is worth having the roof looked at properly.
Why does Cherokee County get hit so often?
Geography and housing age together. Storm cells crossing north Georgia generally run west to east, and the ground under Cherokee rises steadily toward the Pickens County line, which gives those cells something to lift against right as they arrive. The county also built out fast through the 1990s and 2000s along the I-575 corridor, so whole subdivisions reached roof-replacement age within a few years of each other.
The practical effect is that the county's damage history is patchy rather than even. A cell can work over one side of Canton and never reach Waleska at all, which is why two homeowners in the same county can have completely different answers waiting on their roofs.
I searched for roof damage repair. Is that the work you do?
Not quite, and it is worth being straight about it. We do insurance restoration. When a storm has damaged a roof, we document what it did, work the claim through with your insurance company, and replace the roof. We are not a patch-and-move-on repair outfit, and we do not try to talk homeowners with ordinary worn-out roofs into buying a new one.
So the inspection is the fork in the road. If there is storm damage up there, you will see it in the imagery and we will take it from there. If there is not, we will say so plainly and you have spent half an hour and nothing else.
What happens at a Cherokee County roof inspection?
All of Cherokee County is a drone zone for us. An FAA-licensed operator flies the roof and captures high-resolution imagery of every slope, ridge, valley and penetration. Nobody climbs on your roof, nothing is walked on, no ladder leans against your gutters, and you do not need to be home while it happens.
Afterwards you are shown the imagery and exactly what we found in it, slope by slope. It takes about thirty minutes and it is free whichever way it goes.
Are you licensed and insured to work in Cherokee County?
Yes. We are licensed and insured in Georgia, we carry general liability and workers' compensation, and we have been working this county since 2008. We are also GAF Certified Plus, a manufacturer credential GAF only issues to contractors it has checked for licensing, insurance and installation standards.
Ask for the certificate of insurance before anything starts and we will send it over. Permits pull through Cherokee County or through the city office, depending on which side of a city limit the house falls on, and that is our job rather than yours.
