Acworth Roof Replacement After Storm or Hail Damage

We have completed 142 roofs in Acworth and 133 of them were paid by the homeowner's insurance. Sitting between two lakes does a roof no favours, and the numbers here reflect that.

Why do Acworth roofs weather faster?

Open water. Acworth sits between Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona, and wind coming off a lake arrives at a roof having passed over nothing that slowed it down. In a wooded subdivision inland, that same gust has already been broken up by other houses and tree lines.

Lake-facing slopes also take more direct sun across the day. Shingles on that side of a house routinely look older than the ones on the other side, on the same roof, laid the same week.

Is that wind damage or just wear?

Both happen, and separating them is the job. Wind damage leaves creased shingles where the tab has been lifted and folded back down, and broken seal strips where it has been lifted repeatedly without tearing. Neither is visible from the ground and neither looks like age.

Sun-driven wear is uniform. Wind damage sits in lines, usually along a rake edge or a ridge, which is why we look hardest at those first on the lake side.

Which parts of Acworth do you work in?

The neighbourhoods around Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona, Brookstone, Governors Towne Club, Centennial Lakes, Bentwater, and out toward Kennesaw, Marietta and Cartersville.

Cobb County has been our busiest county since 2024, with Marietta alone accounting for 407 completed roofs.

Everyone around the lake seems to be getting a new roof. Why?

Partly the exposure, partly that hail hits whole neighbourhoods at once. A cell passing over the lake drops ice across a wide area, and the houses underneath all took it on the same afternoon.

What varies is who has looked. Roofs that were hit in the same storm get replaced months or years apart, entirely according to when somebody thought to check.

How does the claim run?

You open it, we document it, and we meet your adjuster at the house to walk the roof together. That meeting determines the scope, so we go to all of them. Afterwards we supplement for what the first estimate missed.

On a lakefront property the supplement often covers steep or multi-story labour, since those houses tend to be larger and the pitches harder to work.

What does another winter do to a damaged roof?

It accelerates it. Wind damage that broke a seal strip leaves the shingle sitting loose, and every gust from then on works it further. Water gets under a lifted tab in a way it never could under a sealed one.

That is the difference between a hail claim and a wind claim, practically speaking. Hail damage degrades slowly. Wind damage keeps compounding every time it blows.
